There are many different types of electronic cigarettes. They are mainly classified according to size although there are also variations depending on the components that make up the specific e-cig. There are also very many names that are used to refer to the different types of e-cigs. These depend on the company that manufactures the e-cig. However, a common ground is achieved across the different company models through the use of model numbers. For instance, you will notice numbers like 510, 801, 901 and 808 among many others.
These numbers simply represent the threading within the electronic cigarette, from the battery all the way to the atomizer. For example, any 801 atomizer will readily fit in any 801 electronic cigarettes since they have the same threading. Below is a brief discussion of some of the common types of e-cigarettes based on size and appearances (how they look).
The Different Types of Electronic Cigarettes
1. The Micro E-Cigarette
These range from 50 mm up to 99 mm in size. They are the smallest, and also the lightest, of the e-cigs today. Some of these micro e-cigs are way smaller than a real cigarette. They also have a very small diameter which contributes to their being lighter. Examples of these micro e-cigarettes include the RN-4088, RN-4082, Janty Mini Fogger, JOYE 306, KR-808, DSE-201, DSE-097 and the DSE-084.
Their small size makes the micro e-cigarettes very comfortable for most users. Unfortunately, due to the same small size, they have an equally small sized battery, cartridge and atomizer. They, therefore, have a weaker battery life, produce much less vapor in comparison to other sizes, and need regular refills or cartridge replacements.
2. Super Mini E-Cigarettes
These fall in the range of 100 mm up to 115 mm. They mimic the real cigarette extremely well although in most cases, they tend to be a little thicker than a normal ordinary tobacco cigarette. Examples of the super mini e-cigarettes include the RN-4081, Njoy Npro, JOYE 510, M402, M401, DSE-107, DSE-103, DSE-102, DSE-101 and the Janty Dura.
The super minis provide a comfortable size and more vapor production that most users enjoy, together with a better and longer lasting battery life. However, you will still need to have regular refills or cartridge replacements because the cartridge is still small.
3. Mini E-Cigarettes
Their sizes range from 116 mm up to 139 mm. The mini e-cigs are less bulky and more streamlined than the common pen style e-cigs (discussed below). However, they are thicker and longer than the super mini e-cigs. Examples include the RN-4075, JOYE 303, Janty Kissbox Yentl, KR-208, and the DSE-901.
The mini cigarettes produce good amounts of vapor owing to their bigger cartridge. They also have a good battery life. However, some users feel uncomfortable with their size that is larger than a normal cigarette.
4. Pen Style E-Cigarette
These represent the original form of the electronic cigarettes. When they came in to being, e-cigarettes had the atomizer (heating element) and the liquid cartridges being larger than the battery. Therefore, when attached to the battery, they would resemble a pen that has a cap on. This is where the “pen style” name came from.
Some examples of these pen style e-cigs include the RN-4072, Njoy Ncig, M201, KR-V80, KR-108, JOYE 302, Janty Kissbox Classic, Janty Classic, and the DSE-801. Notice the use of the term “classic” in a number of these examples. This indicates the roots and origin of the e-cig.
With its large cartridge comes a lot of vapor. They also have a strong battery. However, for the person who is used to smoking the traditional cigarette, these pen cigarettes feel very awkward to hold.
5. The E-Cigar
Just like the name suggests, these are a form of e-cigarettes whose appearance mimics, or is derived from that of a cigar. The user gets the feel and look of a cigar smoking experience. Some examples of e-cigars include the RN-4062, JOYE 301, KR-303, Njoy Ngar, KR-301, DSE-701 and the DSE-501.
6. The E-Pipe
There is also the e-pipe, which, as the name suggests, is the equivalent of a tobacco pipe in e-cigarettes. It looks like a pipe only that it uses the e-smoking technology. Some examples of the e-pipe include the KR-608, JOYE 307, and the DSE-601.
7. The Screwdriver
Its name gives it out. This is an e-cig that resembles the screwdriver in shape. It is made of a big battery and so has an extended battery life. However, its large size makes it very uncomfortable to hold and most users are known to avoid smoking it in public because of its strange look.
These are a type of electronic cigarettes that are made of only one piece. They do not have a rechargeable battery. They also do not have a refillable or a replaceable cartridge. There are different sizes of the disposable e-cigs but the most common one is the mini cigarette.
It can be argued that these disposables are more convenient and cleaner. However, they are also more costly since you cannot refill them or charge their battery for continued use. On top of this, they amount to more waste because once you have used up its contents, you are left with no other option but to throw it away.
So, depending on your smoking preferences, you may go for the matching e-cigarette that resembles your favorite tobacco cigarette. This way, you will enjoy the same comfort while smoking, only that this time round, you will have eliminated the harmful and toxic carcinogens and substances found in an ordinary tobacco cigarette’s smoke.
